Grenada/Ghana Bi-lateral agreement and assistance

1.      Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on Culture, Trade and Education .February 2024

o    Description: Grenada and Ghana signed MoUs covering cooperation in culture, trade and education (a set of non-binding frameworks to guide [1]collaboration and future projects). The Grenada side reported these MoUs and said a roadmap to operationalize them was in progress.

2.      Official establishment / upgrading of diplomatic relations (2024)

o    Description: The two countries established formal diplomatic relations (reported in 2024) and have since pursued deeper ties through political consultations and MOUs. Several news outlets and government posts describe the formalization of relations in 2024 and follow-on agreements.

3.      Memorandum of Understanding (Health / Deployment of Ghanaian nurses) — October 2025[2] [3]

o    Description: A landmark health cooperation MoU was signed in October 2025 to enable the temporary deployment/recruitment of Ghanaian nurses and allied health personnel to Grenada to help address workforce shortages and strengthen Grenada’s health system. Multiple government and news sources reported the MoU and described its intent (temporary deployment, capacity support, knowledge exchange).

4.      Maiden Ghana–Grenada Political Consultations — 16 October 2025

o    Description: Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that the first formal political consultations between Ghana and Grenada took place on 16 Oct 2025 ; an institutional channel for discussing bilateral cooperation, following the MoUs and diplomatic steps.

5.      Visa-waiver / visa facilitation arrangements (reported since 2024)

o    Description: Several reports and government summaries state that the countries have discussed or agreed visa facilitation/waivers as part of their early agreements on mobility, education and cultural exchange. (These appear as provisions within the broader set of MOUs and diplomatic communiqués.)  

6.      Cooperation on trade / AfCFTA linkages & economic collaboration (ongoing, 2024–2025)

o    Description: Officials from both sides have discussed trade cooperation and exploring links to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as a means to deepen economic ties (Ghana highlighted opportunities to collaborate and share AfCFTA lessons). These are high-level political / economic cooperation commitments anchored by the MoUs and political consultations.
